Julia D'Angelo
Julia D'Angelo
Bio:
Toronto-born, Brooklyn-based Julia D'Angelo, is a multi-faceted artist weaving music, film, and dance into her creative projects. With an ear heavily rooted in jazz and folk legends from across the years, Julia D'Angelo's musical work is a harmonious blend of past and present. Genre-hopping from heavily produced synth-pop to organic, live-off-the-floor arrangements, her songs find themselves connected through her focus on lyricism and storytelling, unconventional rhythmic phrasing, and inflections of smoke-tinged vocals. Her latest synth-pop track and video, Kathmandu garnered critical praise by both music and film lovers alike for its dreamlike ambiance and aesthetically rich storytelling (nominated for Best Film at the Miami International Film Festival). With a talented full band, she has performed sold-out shows across Toronto (The Cameron House, The Supermarket, The Monarch Tavern & The Emmet Ray) and NYC (Rubulad, Gold Sounds, Purgatory, Knitting Factory, Bowery Electric).
